At Northlight Dental we offer high quality orthodontic treatment provided by Dr. Neha Passan, our in-house Specialist Orthodontist providing Braces in Milton Keynes.
Orthodontics is an option for you if you don't like your smile
Orthodontics allows us to treat irregularities in the position of the teeth, including common issues such as overcrowding and 'buck teeth'.
This is often also the healthiest way of improving the appearance of your smile, as it does not require the destruction of tooth structure and is suitable for patients of all ages. We can also help those that have had orthodontic treatment in the past but have found that their teeth have since moved.
A perfect smile represents confidence and success in both your private and professional life. You feel great knowing not only that you look amazing but also that your smile is healthy. Straight teeth are easier to keep clean, so both your teeth and gums will be healthier for longer.
Orthodontics is the movement of the teeth within the jaw bones to straighten them and help them to bite more evenly together.
Orthodontists are fully qualified dentists who have commonly completed a further period of training and examinations in order to specialise in orthodontics. A specialist orthodontist will have carried out at least 3 years of extra training after dental school becoming a qualified dentist. Only those dentists who have completed this training or equivalent can register with the GDC as a specialist orthodontist.
At Northlight Dental, we offer a range of solutions that will help correct your condition. Our orthodontist in Milton Keynes will check your case and prescribe the right treatment. We offer the following services:
- Traditional Fixed Braces- Use of small metal brackets placed on the tooth surfaces. The brackets are then used to tie in an active wire, which moves the teeth in the desired position.
- Fixed Tooth Coloured Braces- These are similar to the traditional fixed braces, except the brackets are translucent for a much more discreet look
- Fixed Lingual Braces- These consist of special custom made brackets that are attached to the inside surfaces of your teeth, therefore virtually invisible.
- Invisalign- These are removable translucent trays, again virtually invisible and are removed for eating and cleaning
There is likely to be a small degree of discomfort to start with. There may be some aching and tenderness in the gums, and the teeth may feel tender as they start to move. This normally only lasts a few days, and Painkillers and a soft diet for this duration can be helpful
This depends on what we are trying to achieve and is highly variable. Treatment can be as short as 6 months in some cases, but in more complex cases can take up to 2 years
You would normally need to be seen every 6-10 weeks
In some cases you can mask irregular teeth with crowns or veneers. However this requires the teeth to be cut down and can be destructive to the tooth. Orthodontic tooth straightening is certainly worth looking into if you want to achieve a naturally straight smile
